“Majulah” (#221: Project 365 Sketches)

2013, Fri 9 Aug. This sketch was started many months back. I was standing behind three commuters who were holding onto the train posts. I remember thinking this would make a nice post for National Day. And so 9th Aug finally arrived. In completing this, I chose to be “colour blind” and used only the red and white of the national flag. The title that first came to mind was “unity”. In the end, I thought most apt was a word that means “onward” in Malay; a word used in our National Anthem. We may experience delays and inconveniences in our commute. But as long as we’re moving forward, we’ll get there. Happy 48th, Singapore.
